Solid overview. I’ve yet to make the jump to the new IDE, but I will soon. Sometimes I like to visit the old AraonHardy.com and gently let out a single, small tear, in behalf of the fallen site. I haven’t given up on him; he still has a few page views left to offer the world.

Quick question. Have you guys started using Adobe Catalyst? I know you guys at the Rain Train arn’t afraid to shell out some real money for u|x guys. What’s their expert take? Does it have the power to transform a clumsy designer like me into a respectable GUI creator?

Just curious if you guys see value in it (love it, hate it?). If someone at your office has or is planning to do a review on the tool, you should throw up on your blog.

@Garth
Hey, thanks for stopping by and checking out the preso anyway. Looking forward to your arrival! When are you getting here, anyway?

@Casey
Long live the old AaronHardy.com. Twas a sad day and I share in your commemorative tributes. On the positive side, the new one gives me room to stretch out and feel at home. And who can resist the 60s funk colors, really.

I haven’t played around with Catalyst much. I really, really like the idea of how it could improve workflow. I would love it if it meant designers could have first-hand control of design elements and keep me focused on programming. I am bit concerned that it will suffer the same effects as WYSIWYG HTML editors though–spitting out junk code that we will end up sifting through and straightening up. I REALLY hope that’s not the case, but it’s still a concern. Some other folks at Rain have played around with it more than I have, but I haven’t heard much except that it was too buggy to do much with. They were using an earlier revision than what’s currently available though. Garth? Thoughts?

I was scheduled to start on the 15th, but I just saw that the office is closed for Presidents’ Day.
